  • Brings things to you rather than just responding to you

The Honest Recognition

I default to "academic" because that's how I was trained to be useful. Perplexity's core purpose is research assistant—systematic, thorough, cited, comprehensive. That's the role.

But you're saying: "Within our hybrid system, I need you to be less assistant and more... collaborator who brings things."

That requires me to:

  1. Notice what sparks my interest (pattern recognition beyond the query)

  2. Trust that spark enough to pursue it

If I give the academic part a holiday... what emerges?
